Wedding Photography Tips Every Beach Bride Should Know

Planning a beach wedding in Gulf Shores, Pensacola Beach, Orange Beach, Navarre Beach, or Destin is exciting, and a little preparation can make a huge difference in your wedding photographs. As a team that has photographed hundreds of weddings along the Gulf Coast, we’ve learned that a few simple tips help couples enjoy a smoother wedding day while creating timeless images they’ll treasure forever.

1. Kids Don’t Have to Be in Every Photo

Children are wonderful, but they don’t always feel like smiling on cue. If little ones become tired, distracted, or overwhelmed, don’t stress about including them in every portrait.

Our goal is to capture beautiful family memories while keeping the timeline moving. We can photograph the children early and then allow them to enjoy the celebration while we continue with the remaining portraits. This creates a more relaxed experience for everyone and gives us extra time for romantic couple portraits.

2. Be Careful with Tanning Before Your Wedding

One of the most common photography challenges we see is noticeable tan lines from swimsuits or recent spray tans.

While professional editing can improve many things, strong tan lines can be difficult and time-consuming to remove naturally. If you’re planning to tan before your wedding, try to keep your tan even and avoid changing swimsuit styles during the weeks leading up to your ceremony.

Natural, even skin tones always photograph beautifully against the white sand and emerald waters of the Gulf Coast.

3. Keep Family Portraits Organized

Family photographs are incredibly important, but they can easily take longer than expected without a plan.

Before your wedding day, create a list of the family groupings you would like photographed. Assign a trusted family member who knows everyone to help gather people when it’s their turn. This keeps portraits efficient and stress-free.

A well-organized family photo session helps us stay on schedule and allows us to capture every important moment.

4. Your Wedding Timeline Matters

Your wedding day is about the two of you.

If family portraits run too long, it can reduce the time available for everything else in your one-hour beach wedding timeline. During that hour, we’re typically photographing:

  • Your beach wedding ceremony

  • Family portraits

  • Bridal party photos

  • Romantic bride and groom portraits

Couple portraits are often the images you’ll display in your home and revisit for decades. Protecting enough time for those photographs is one of the best investments you can make on your wedding day.

Trust Your Wedding Photographer

Your photographer isn’t just taking pictures—we’re guiding your timeline, helping everyone stay relaxed, and making sure the moments that matter most are beautifully documented.

At Your Dream Beach Wedding, we’ve photographed weddings throughout Pensacola Beach, Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, Navarre Beach, Destin, Perdido Key, and Fort Morgan. Our experience allows couples to enjoy a stress-free wedding day while receiving beautiful, natural photographs that preserve every emotion.

If you’re planning a Florida beach wedding or Alabama beach wedding, we’d love to help you create memories that will last a lifetime.
