Creative Ways to Include Kids in Your Wedding
A wedding is a special event that includes guests of all ages, children included. However, a wedding is not an event that children usually find attractive and this could be a problem. As we all know, a bored kid can do all sorts of things just to get the attention and feel some excitement and this is definitely not something that the parents and the bride and the groom want.
This is why you should plan some activities that will help kids feel included in the wedding and make them feel special. Just like adults love dancing, kids may want to engage in some activities suitable to their age. Some couples may find this difficult because they are already preoccupied with their activities during the wedding day, but the fact is that it doesn’t take much to make kids in the weddings happy. Your wedding day is not only a celebration of love between you and your partner, but also an opportunity to share precious memories with your loved ones, including the little ones in your life. From participating in special ceremonies to adding unique touches to traditional roles, here are some creative ways to include kids in your wedding.
1. Sand Ceremony
If you already have kids together or are blending two families together, a great option is a sand ceremony that differs from the traditional unity candle ceremony by including each member of the family. You, your partner, and each child pours a different color sand into a single vessel symbolizing the blending of two families into one, creating a beautiful family keepsake that you can cherish for years to come. This is one of my favorite ways to include kids in the ceremony and your wedding day, as it communicates to them that you're all united together.
"As you now combine your sand together, your lives also join together as one family! They realize in order for a home to be a happy one, it is essential that there be love and understanding between the children and the adults being married.”
2. Walking Down the Aisle
Invite the children to walk down the aisle alongside the bride or groom, either individually or as a group. If you have younger children, you can also carry them down the aisle. This can be a heartwarming moment that symbolizes the joining of families and the beginning of a new chapter together.
3. Ring Bearer and Flower Girl
Of course, you can still include the traditional roles of ring bearer and flower girl, but consider adding a unique twist by letting the children personalize their roles. For example, instead of scattering petals, the flower girl could carry a small bouquet or a basket of flowers. Similarly, the ring bearer could hold a special sign or banner announcing the arrival of the bride.
4. Family Vows
Another sweet and sentimental way to Include children in your wedding day is having them be a part of the vow exchange by incorporating family vows into the ceremony. This allows you to express your commitment to each other, but also to your children and your family as a whole, promising to love and support them as part of your new family.
5. Family Portraits
This might seem obvious, but carving out time for family photos of you with your children is the perfect way to include them and have beautiful memories of this special moment. Wedding photos are one of the most important aspects of any wedding, and while you want and will get plenty of photos as newlyweds, including your kids in a few family portraits will serve as a beautiful reminder of the love shared by the entire family.
6. Special Kid Space
If you are planning an outdoor wedding, you can place a special smaller tent for the children. Even if you have an indoor wedding, you can mark a special area for kids. Instead of forcing children to sit with their parents, you can give them a chance to communicate and interact with their peers in these marked areas. This is the area where you can place some games, puzzles, books, movies or even gaming consoles. No matter what type of content you will use, you should remember to assign someone to watch the kids especially if we are talking about very young kids. There is no doubt that kids love such spaces because they make them feel like grownups and enjoy the time spent there.
7. Kid-Friendly Activities
Depending on the age of your kids or the number of kids invited to the wedding, you could set up a designated kids' area with activities and games to keep the little ones entertained. Making plans for party games designed for kids is another way to bring smiles to kid’s faces on a wedding and eliminate boredom. Maybe you have a few fun beach games, such as a bean bag toss, or provide sand buckets and shovels for the kids to play and entertain themselves in the sand. You can use these games at any stage of the wedding, but it is the best idea to let them play these games (or even participate in these games) right after the guests finish their meals (after the reception). Younger kids will be glad to play some of the all time favorite party games including blind man’s bluff or musical chairs.
Providing giveaway is a great idea too. The vast majority of children enjoy receiving gifts and favors. A simple scavenger hunt or some other similar game where they will get a chance to earn their favors and gifts will keep them busy for hours. Party favors that come in the form of toys are definitely a good solution.
8. Let Them Dance!
As mentioned before, dancing is the main activity of adult guests, but why not let children dance for 15-20 minutes? Find music that they like and let them be the main stars of the wedding for a short period of time. Don’t forget to take photos!
As you can see, kids can enjoy weddings and play special and active role without getting involved in mischief, but in order to achieve this you will have to make a good plan before the wedding starts. Including children into your wedding day creates a memorable family moment that will last a lifetime. These creative ideas will help make your wedding day even more memorable for both you and the children involved.

Wedding Day Timeline: From Getting Ready to Celebrating Love
Your wedding day is a whirlwind of excitement, anticipation, and love. There is so much to plan and pack into one day. Here at Your Dream Beach Wedding, we handle all the planning and ensure everything runs seamlessly and stress-free. In order to do this, it's essential to have a well-planned wedding timeline in place. From getting ready with your bridal party to saying "I do" and celebrating with loved ones, below is a breakdown of a typical wedding day timeline. However, please know that this is just a suggested guideline.
The first part of your wedding day is usually categorized as getting ready. However, it isn’t enough to just say, we will start getting ready at 8:00am. There needs to be a detailed timeline that includes who is getting ready and when, when photographers will arrive, if there will be a bridesmaids or family first look with the bride, and everything else to ensure there is enough time before the wedding ceremony. To figure out your wedding day timeline, it is best to have your wedding ceremony time set, and work backwards from that. For example, if your wedding ceremony starts at 5:30 pm, you would work backwards from there and fill in the timeline depending on what events you want to include.
Things To Consider When Planning Your Wedding Day Timeline Pre-Ceremony:
You want to schedule food delivery! You need to eat and stay hydrated so make sure you schedule a brunch with your girls or lunch delivery for the guys so no one is hungry going into the wedding ceremony.
Hair and makeup usually takes 60-90 minutes for the bride and 30-45 minutes for each member of the wedding party and parents.
Schedule your photographer to arrive with enough time to capture your wedding details, flatlays, and relaxed getting ready portraits.
Remember to savor this moment with your bridal party. Brides, enjoy some bonding time with your bridesmaids while getting dressed, getting the finishing touches, and bridal party photos taken. Grooms, relax with your groomsmen as you get ready for the ceremony and get a few photos, too.
If you and your partner are sharing a first look before the ceremony, typically wedding portraits, family portraits, and wedding party portraits would follow that moment. You would want to allot at least 2 hours for that, as well as any travel time.
Wedding Ceremony
Now that you’ve worked backwards from the ceremony, it’s time for the ceremony to start! Exchange vows and rings in front of your family and friends.
Enjoy the magic of this specialmoment as you officially become married. From here the timeline flows a little easier. The main factor that will affect your post wedding ceremony timeline is whether you took wedding portraits before the ceremony. If you did, you will not need to schedule as much time after the ceremony - maybe just a quick stroll at sunset during the golden hour. You might also want to take photos around the venue, before heading to the cocktail hour to enjoy a drink and relax with your guests before the wedding reception begins.
After cocktail hour is over, the reception festivities officially kick-off! You can see my guide to wedding receptions and the typical order of events in this blog here (one below I wrote). You can find more information and check out all our wedding packages here.
Here is an example of a wedding timeline with the ceremony starting at 6 pm. Move your timeline accordingly to your ceremony time.
When creating the timeline for your vendors, please ask each vendor their optimal time to arrive and get ready. When crafting a wedding schedule, the focus should be on setting the ceremony start time as the key anchor point.
A Guide to Wedding Receptions: Order of Service
Your Wedding reception is a time for celebration, laughter, and creating unforgettable memories with your loved ones. While every wedding reception is unique, there are certain traditions that tend to follow a similar pattern and order. Whether or not you choose to include every item, there is a typical order of service for most wedding receptions. Below you’ll find a suggest guide to help you plan your wedding reception timeline!
1. Cocktail Hour
Following the wedding ceremony, and before the official reception kicks off, there is a cocktail hour at the reception venue. Delicious appetizers and drinks are provided for guests to enjoy while mingling with friends and family. The cocktail hour sets the tone for the evening and allows guests to relax and socialize before the festivities begin. If your reception takes place indoors, many venues have an outdoor space that can be utilized for cocktail hour, which provides a nice transition into the evening’s events.
2. Grand Entrance
The grand entrance by the bridal party and the newlyweds into the reception venue is a fun, high-energy moment. The grand entrance is usually accompanied with hand-picked music and applause from the guests as each member of the bridal party is announced by the DJ. This moment leads up to the eagerly awaited entrance of the bride and groom. The newlyweds enter the wedding reception as everyone cheers, and they make their way to their seats and are the last to be seated.
3. Toasts and Speeches
Toasts and speeches are an important part of any reception. Usually toasts are given by the parents of the bride and groom, the best man, maid of honor, members of the bridal party, as well as other close friends and family members. They deliver heartfelt, and often comical speeches ending with a toast to the newlyweds. It's a time to celebrate love and the newlyweds’ new chapter in life together.
4. Food is served
Once the bridal party and the newlyweds are seated and speeches have been delivered, dinner service begins. The bride and groom and the wedding party are served first followed by the guests. Meals may include multiple courses depending on the style of the reception. From plated dinners to buffet-style feasts, there are plenty of options to suit every couple's taste and budget. Allowing the bride and groom to eat first, allows them to finish first and take time to mingle with their guests as they are all seated.
5. Cake Cutting Ceremony
After dinner, it's time for the much-anticipated cake cutting ceremony. The newlyweds stand together as they cut into their wedding cake and then feed each other a bite, symbolizing their first act of sharing as a married couple. This sweet tradition is often accompanied by cheers and applause from the guests; however, some couples opt to enjoy this moment privately.
6. First Dances
The first dances are a highlight of the evening! Most couples enjoy their first dance as husband and wife to a hand-chosen song, representing their love and commitment to each other. After the bride and groom share their first dance together, parent dances typically follow. Mother-son and father-daughter dances, as well as dances with the members of the wedding party are all traditional dances that many choose to include in their reception. These special dances are often accompanied by meaningful songs chosen by the couple.
7. Bouquet Toss
The bouquet toss is a fun tradition for all the single female guests! This fun and lighthearted tradition adds excitement to the reception as the bride tosses her bouquet into a crowd of eager guests, (usually while Beyonce’s All the Single Ladies is playing in the background). The lucky recipient who catches the bouquet is said to be the next to marry.
8. Garter Toss
Similarly, the garter toss is a tradition where the groom removes the bride's garter and tosses it to a group of single male guests. The recipient of the garter is believed to be the next to marry, adding an element of playful competition to the reception.
9. Dancing and Celebration
After dinner and traditional dances are done, the dance floor opens to everyone! It is time to celebrate and have a good time. Guests are invited to dance the night away to their favorite tunes, creating lasting memories with the newlyweds and each other.
10. Wedding Exit
As the evening draws to a close, the newlyweds bid farewell to their guests and make their grand exit from the reception venue. Whether it's a sparkler send-off, a romantic getaway car, or a boat ride into the sunset, the departure is a final moment of magic and romance to conclude the celebration.
While these are all traditional and common wedding reception events it is important to note that your wedding should be uniquely yours. Any of these events can be removed from your wedding reception timeline. Similarly, you can add your own personal spin on this or add something completely new to your wedding services, as your wedding should always reflect you and your spouse. Hopefully, this wedding reception order of service guide helps you plan a seamless and unforgettable celebration that reflects your unique love story. From the first toast to the final farewell, your wedding reception is sure to be a night to remember for years to come.

In today's fast-paced and often stressful world, it is crucial to prioritize our happiness and create memories that bring us joy and fulfillment. By following a few simple steps, you can begin to transform your everyday experiences into moments of magic and create a life that is filled with love, passion, and happiness.
To start romanticizing and planning a happier life, it is essential to set goals, create a vision board, practice gratitude, explore new hobbies and interests, and prioritize self-care. These steps will guide you in aligning your passions and values, visualizing your ideal life, fostering a positive mindset, discovering new joys, and taking care of yourself.
1. Set Goals:
Setting goals is the first step towards creating a happier life. Take some time to reflect on your passions and values. What are some things you've always wanted to do or experience? Set both short-term and long-term goals that align with these desires. For example, if your passion is traveling, you can set a short-term goal of visiting a new city within the next six months and a long-term goal of exploring a different country each year. By setting goals that excite and motivate you, you will have a clear direction to work towards, bringing a sense of purpose and fulfillment to your life.
2. Create a Vision Board:
Visualization is a powerful tool in manifesting your dreams. Create a vision board by collecting images, quotes, and words that inspire and motivate you. This board will serve as a constant reminder of the positive aspects you want to bring into your life. For example, if you aspire to have a loving relationship, include images of happy couples or quotes about love and connection. By regularly looking at your vision board, you will reinforce your desires and attract experiences that align with your aspirations.
3. Practice Gratitude:
Cultivating gratitude is essential in creating a happier life. Take time each day to acknowledge and appreciate the good things in your life. It can be as simple as expressing gratitude for a beautiful sunset or a kind gesture from a friend. By shifting your focus towards the positive aspects, you will invite more joy and happiness into your daily routine. Consider keeping a gratitude journal or using gratitude apps to help you develop this habit.
4. Explore New Hobbies and Interests:
Trying new things is an excellent way to add excitement and fulfillment to your life. Take the time to explore activities that bring you joy and make you feel alive. It could be painting, dancing, hiking, learning a new language, or any other hobby that piques your interest. By engaging in activities that align with your passions, you will discover new sources of happiness and enrich your life with memorable experiences.
5. Prioritize Self-Care:
Self-care is crucial in maintaining a happy and fulfilling life. Carve out time for activities that rejuvenate your mind, body, and soul. Engage in practices such as taking baths, meditating, reading, or going for walks in nature. By dedicating time to take care of yourself, you will recharge your energy and create a positive foundation for all aspects of your life.
The journey of romanticizing and planning a happier life starts from within. By setting goals, creating a vision board, practicing gratitude, exploring new hobbies and interests, and prioritizing self-care, you can transform your life into one filled with love, passion, and happiness. Remember to embrace positivity, visualize your dreams, and take small steps each day towards creating a more fulfilling life. At Your Dream Beach Wedding, we are here to provide guidance and suggestions throughout this process. Together, we can turn your aspirations into reality and create beautiful memories that will last a lifetime. How can I assist you further in this process?
How To Plan a Beach Wedding on a Budget
Planning a beach wedding and staying within your budget can be a challenging task, but there are various ideas to make your special day unique and memorable without breaking the bank.
1. Personalized Welcome Bags: Show your guests a warm welcome by providing them with beach-themed welcome bags. Include items such as sunscreens, sunglasses, beach towels, and personalized notes to make them feel appreciated and excited for the festivities.

3. Alternative Bridal Bouquets: Step away from the traditional bridal bouquet and opt for unique alternatives. Consider having a bouquet made with seashells, pampas grass or even dried wildflowers for a mix of beachy and elegant vibes. These alternative bouquets are not only creative but can also be more cost-effective.
4. Explore Affordable Wedding Packages: Many companies specialize in affordable beach wedding packages that provide the necessary services and elements for your special day. For instance, you can create your own signage, centerpieces, or even design unique placeholders using beach-themed materials. DIY projects not only add a personalized touch but can also save you money.
